RLSS Commonwealth Championships
Competitive lifesaving is an important mechanism to enable the Royal Life Saving Society achieve its longer term vision of a ‘world without drowning’. While there are many opportunities for elite athletes to compete, the opportunities for lifesavers at a beginner and developing stage are fewer. The RLSS Commonwealth Championship encourages participation in and development of lifesaving skills.
The competition is two-fold with a non-competitive sports development category and the more traditional Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships. National teams from across the Commonwealth participate in the Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships while the Development Championships will serve to develop both nations and individual competitors in the skills of Lifesaving sport and future international events. The Championships event rules are consistent with those in the ILS Competition Manual.
